Lieu Nguyen.

Born 1981, Tra Vinh, Based in Ho Chi Minh

Introduction.

Duong Lieu portrait.jpg

Lieu Nguyen is the first Vietnamese artist who pursues the style of ‘pointillism-action painting’ -
a combination of gestural abstraction and pointillism. He does not touch the canvas with his
brush, all the paintings are done by dropping the paint on the canvas. The artist perfectly
balances tens of thousands of unique points on each canvas, each a different size and color to
create a flawlessly balanced and strong image on his artworks. He often falls in love with nature
so the nature, plants and flowers inspire him to create his landscape paintings. His paintings are
always of vibrant colors and generous trends.

Lieu Nguyen was honored by Apple as one of the 10 most prominent contemporary artists in the
world in 2016. Referring to this talented artist is referring to the style of ‘pointillism-action
painting’ he has devoted. According to him, the pointillism requires high concentration as well
as determination. A good painter is someone who knows when to stop drawing in time. As for
Duong Lieu, the pointillism is not difficult. The only difficulty is how to make your tactics have its own style,

your paintings must be different from that of the previous senior artists.
